HISTORY

Audiokio (AKO) began in 1999 dedicated to the public release of creative material. At its inception, AKO spurred a number of video and audio projects of various sizes: the smaller of these projects (e.g., singles, video shorts) were available free; the larger of these projects (e.g., full albums) were sold to recoup production costs associated with the full AKO catalog. Early projects included Sivan Cotel’s self-titled album and AQ-produced videos featuring AKO-associated actors.

As Audiokio expanded in subsequent years, AKO focused on fully-produced projects for sale, both in person and online. AKO sponsored performances featuring the best of AKO’s artists, mostly in clubs around New York City and other East-coast venues. Full albums included KastOne – Not for the Faint Hearted and the online-only free download J’Bok Greenfeld – Crayons for Adults. Video projects included three seasons of the public access comedy show The Dumpster Kids.

Currently, Audiokio exists in a reduced format focused on entirely free deliverables. Present content includes a blog and free downloads representing creative projects designed by AKO members. Other AKO-associated artists continue to maintain their own independent online presences and performance schedules. Current content includes AQ’s new album Scenario45 – Step One and Sivan Cotel’s jazz thesis Musical Memories from a Commercial Childhood.
